Rhine-Ruhr 2025 visits the DBB

The basketball competitions at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games will take place in Hagen's Ischelandhalle in summer 2025. To get an impression of the hall under competition conditions the team visited the German Basketball Federation (DBB) last week.

Before watching the European Championship qualifier between Germany and Greece (79:76) together they were given a detailed tour of the Ischelandhalle. It was important for the delegation from the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games to see how the set-up in the Ischelandhalle works under live conditions. This was followed by productive discussions with DBB officials at their headquarters before attending the thrilling basketball game.

‘We are very grateful for the strong support of the DBB and are proud of our cooperation,’ says Anita Hartung, Sports Manager Basketball at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games.

Sina Diekmann, Chief Sports Officer at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, added: ‘The cooperation with the organisers of the German Basketball Federation is going extremely well. We once again had very good discussions and were able to get a comprehensive picture of the local conditions.’

Next summer's basketball competitions will take place between 18 and 26 July. There will be both a men's and a women's tournament. The venues are the Grugahalle in Essen, where the finals will also take place, the Sporthalle am Hallo in Essen, the Walter-Schädlich-Halle in Duisburg and the Ischelandhalle in Hagen.
