International online lecture series 'Rhine-Ruhr et al. (2025)' has started

An enlightening online lecture series is giving a behind-the-scenes look at everything involved in hosting one of the world’s biggest multi-sport events – and now you can also take part. In preparation for the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, Macromedia University of Applied Sciences (Hamburg) is bringing together international experts and insiders from the world of sport for a weekly series held in tandem with the Organising Committee of next July’s sporting showpiece.

Contributors will include beach volleyball star Karla Borger, a gold medallist at the Shenzhen 2011 Universiade and competitor at Olympic Games Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

Whether you are studying sports management, are an athlete or simply a passionate sports fan - this is the right place for you!

The lectures will be held in English and moderated by Prof. Dr. Thomas Horky, an expert in sports communication.

“We invite interested students, colleagues and sports fans from all over the world to be part of these lectures,” he says. “Everyone will have the opportunity to put their questions to the experts, and also to take part in the discussion during the Q&A session afterwards. We are very much looking forward to a lively participation.”

University colleagues, Olympic athletes, European University Sports Association (EUSA) and FISU representatives will talk animatedly on topics such as the organisation of major sporting events, sports communication, politics, technology and sustainability.

The lecture series began on 17 October and will take place online via Zoom every Thursday from 15:00 to 16:30 (CEST/CET) until the 23 January. The only exception is 31 October (a public holiday in some parts of Germany). Participation is completely free: you only need to register!

If you would like to take part, simply send an e-mail to t.horky@macromedia.de and you will receive a Zoom link directly to your mailbox.

This is your chance to see behind-the-scenes of a global university and competitive multi-sport event. Learn from the best and be part of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games now.
