Officially honoured: ETUF receives venue plaque for the FISU World University Games 2025
A festive moment at Baldeneysee. At the opening of the completely renovated centre court at Essener Turn- und Fechtklub (ETUF) at the weekend, not only was the new tennis facility unveiled - ETUF was also presented with the official venue plaque. The traditional club will host the tennis competitions of the FISU World University Games in 2025.
Andrea Milz, State Secretary for Sport and Volunteering of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, was also present. ‘This venue plaque shows what has been created here: a top-level venue that not only creates real added value for the event, but also for sport in the region in the long term,’ said Milz. And the ETUF board was also proud - after all, the club will become a sporting centre for tennis on the international university stage next summer.
At the end of the event, Rhine-Ruhr 2025 ambassador Gina Dittmann took to centre court for a short match. CEO Niklas Börger and Chief Sports Officer Sina Diekmann also showed off their tennis skills and took part in a one-point challenge on the newly renovated centre court.
